1. Introduction
Welcome to engagementratecalculator.tech (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website and use our free engagement rate calculator tools for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
We are committed to being transparent about our data practices. This policy is written in plain language so you understand exactly what happens when you use our site. We have drafted it to comply with applicable privacy laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Google’s Analytics Terms of Service requirements.
By using this website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.
2. About Our Tools and What Data They Use
We operate three calculator tools on this website. It is important to understand exactly what data each tool processes so you can make informed decisions about your use.
2.1 Instagram Engagement Rate Calculator
This is a fully manual calculator. It does not connect to Instagram’s servers, does not use any Instagram API, and does not collect, transmit, or store any data you enter.
How it works: You enter numbers directly into input fields — average likes, average comments, and your follower count. The calculation runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. No data leaves your device. No data is sent to our servers. Once you close or refresh the page, all entered values are gone.
Data used:
- Follower count — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average likes per post — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average comments per post — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average saves and shares (Advanced Mode) — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average reach or impressions (Advanced Mode) — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
None of these values are transmitted to us or any third party.
2.2 TikTok Engagement Rate Calculator
Like the Instagram calculator, this is a fully manual calculator. It does not connect to TikTok’s servers, does not use any TikTok API, and does not collect, transmit, or store any data you enter.
How it works: You enter average engagement metrics from your recent TikTok videos directly into input fields. All calculations run inside your browser. No data is sent anywhere.
Data used:
- Follower count — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average likes per video — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average comments per video — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average shares per video — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average saves per video — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
- Average views per video (Advanced Mode) — entered manually by you, processed locally in your browser only
None of these values are transmitted to us or any third party.
2.3 YouTube Engagement Rate Calculator
This calculator works differently from the Instagram and TikTok calculators. It uses the YouTube Data API v3, operated by Google LLC, to automatically fetch publicly available data from YouTube channels. This means a server-side request is made when you use this tool.
How it works: You enter a YouTube channel handle (e.g. @ChannelName) or URL. Our server sends a request to the YouTube Data API using your input to retrieve publicly available channel and video statistics. The results are returned to your browser and the engagement rate is calculated.
Data used and transmitted:
- YouTube channel handle or URL — you enter this, it is sent to our server and then to the YouTube Data API to retrieve public channel data
- Public channel statistics fetched from YouTube — subscriber count, total video count, video titles, view counts, like counts, comment counts for the last 10 public videos
Important: We do not store the channel handle you enter or the results returned from YouTube. The request is processed in real time and discarded. We do not build profiles of YouTube channels or users.
The YouTube Data API is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy. By using the YouTube calculator, you acknowledge that your request is processed through Google’s infrastructure.
Our use of the YouTube Data API complies with the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. We only access publicly available data and do not request access to any private user data.
3. Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit our website, certain technical information is collected automatically as part of standard web server and analytics operations. This happens regardless of which calculator tool you use.
3.1 Server Logs

- Operating system
- Referring URL (the page you came from)
- Pages visited on our site
- Date and time of your visit
- HTTP status codes
Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and technical troubleshooting purposes and are then deleted automatically. This data is not used for marketing or advertising purposes.
3.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics collects data through cookies and similar tracking technologies.
Information collected by Google Analytics includes:
- Pages you visit on our site and how long you spend on them

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process personal data under the following legal bases as defined by the GDPR:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — for server logs collected for security and technical operation of the website, and for Google Analytics used to understand and improve our service. We have assessed that our legitimate interest does not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.
